A Woman's Worth by Regi Davis

Regi Davis was born as Reginald Benjamin Davis. He is an actor and director, known for Hulk (2003), Cry-Baby (1990) and McFarland, USA (2015). Regi quickly became one of my best friends. I actually consider him a mentor.

I asked him to write about something he has helped me with on a very large scale, and that's to recognize and accept my worth by looking at myself as God looks at me. Regi is a man that gets to the point quickly and effectively. This is a short read and I hope you see the value in each word and in between the lines. I feel humbled that he supports the site And the message behind it as much as he does. Thank you, Regi.

"According to Genesis, the second human being God created was a woman. Some might take that as a sleight against women, an attempt to relegate them to second-class status, and there are certainly people who have interpreted this passage in that way. However, a deeper study of the creation story reveals an interesting motive for Eve’s existence. It seems that God looked at the creation of Adam, as glorious as it was, as incomplete without the creation of Eve. Incomplete.

“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Gen 2:18

The first time God ever looked at His creation as “not good” was because of the absence of women. Contrary to popular belief, the Bible doesn't look as women as inferior or less than. Rather, it celebrates them as a vital part of what makes the world good and a crucial source of companionship and cooperation.

A world without women is, according to God, not good.

That’s the beauty of this site. Certainly, this site is open to men and women, but it’s particular mission is to celebrate the vibrant, beautiful, life-giving contribution of women around the world. However, this is not an attempt to say that women are superior to men or more worthy of accolade. Being pro-woman is not anti-man. If the verses of Scripture tell us anything, it teaches us to value work, creativity, wisdom and generosity from men and women alike. I hope that the products you see on this site will challenge your preconceived notions about gender, ethnicity, social class, and creed.

Just know that each time you buy something on this site, you’re not just buying a pair of leggings. You are supporting the creativity of, and propelling the future success of, a mother, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a grandma, a helper, and making the world, according to the Bible, more “fit.”

A world without women is, according to God, not good.

Amen to that."
